The Board is responsible for approving the direction set by the VisitScotland Management Team and overseeing our work practices to ensure we are properly managing the organisation. The Board meet around 6 – 8 times a year.

Professor Anne Anderson

Professor Anne Anderson

Vice-Principal of the University of Glasgow. She has been very active on the international stage in both her current role and previously as vice-Principal of University of Dundee. She has very actively promoted Scotland to prospective students and staff and has overseen large increases in international students and developed strategic partnerships in Canada, the United States, China, Oman and Azerbaijan. She has also raised the profile of Scotland as an attractive place to study and visit.

Rebecca Brooks

Rebecca Brooks

Managing Director of Abbey Tours Scotland. She has worked in international tourism for the last fifteen years, a former director of JAC Travel and current Managing Director of Abbey Tours Scotland, a leading destination management company. As such, her experience has been formed on all international inbound markets to Scotland and the UK. Rebecca is also a Director of European Travel Services, recently acquired by the Abbey Group. She has served as a former Chair of the Scottish Destination Management Association and is currently a Director of the Scottish Tourism Alliance.

Cathy Craig

Cathy Craig

She is an experienced manager who has worked across a number of disciplines and industries. She has expertise in sales, marketing, business development and change management and has been involved in tourism development for the last three years with a track record of improving visitor numbers and developing visitor experience. Cathy has expertise in transport provision within Scotland and its role in developing visitor numbers and experience.

Gordon Dewar

Gordon Dewar

Chief Executive Officer of Edinburgh Airport Ltd.  He was previously Chief Executive of the Bahrain Airport Company; Managing Director of Edinburgh Airport; Managing Director of Glasgow Airport; and Commercial Director, UK Regions of Arriva plc.  He was also part of FirstGroup plc and Commercial Director and part of the Franchise Bid Team for First Scotrail.  Prior to that, Mr Dewar spent ten years in Transport Consultancy.

Steve Dunlop

Steve Dunlop

Chief Executive Officer and a Board Member of Scottish Canals.  He has previously held senior executive appointments with British Waterways; Newcastle City Council and Falkirk Council and brings a wealth of experience in leadership, cultural change, organisational development and risk management.  He also has particular experience around economic development and culture led regeneration.

Stephen Hagan

Stephen Hagan

COSLA spokesperson for Development, Economy and Sustainability. He is a Civil Engineer graduate who is now a farmer and independent councillor with Orkney Islands Council having served as served as Convener of the Council from 2003 to 2012. He was previously Chair of Orkney Ferries and a non-executive Director with both NHS Orkney and the North of Scotland Water Authority. He has a good understanding of remote and rural areas and brings a wealth of experience of partnership working with the public, private and third sectors along with strong leadership skills.

Carolyn Jameson

Chief Legal Officer for Skyscanner. She is a qualified solicitor who has spent a large number of years working within the technology sector. Her roles have included commercial, legal and leadership roles on an international basis.

Calum Ross

Proprietor of the award winning Loch Melfort Hotel in Oban. He is currently Co-Chair of the Argyll and the Isles Tourism Co-operative Ltd, Vice-Chair of Oban and Lorn Tourism and Chair of the Arduaine Garden Support Group. He is also a member of the Tourism Leadership Group, a Director of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, Chair of the British Hospitality Association (BHA) Scotland and a Director of BHA UK.

Caroline Roxburgh

Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and non-executive director at Edinburgh International Festival. Caroline is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years business experience advising Boards in a range of industry sectors. Her experience covers small developing businesses to large listed companies including hotel, leisure, retail, technology & business services organisations in Scotland and internationally. She is a member of PwC UK’s Supervisory Board, the governance body of PwC UK’s Partnership, where she is a member of the Audit & Risk Committee, Strategy & Governance Committee and a member of PwC UK’s Risk Council.
