VisitScotland iCentres

VisitScotland provides face-to-face information provision and inspiration to visitors through a Scotland-wide network of iCentres (Information Centres), some of which are open all year round.

We have launched a dynamic new strategy to address the diverse transformation in the way visitors access information on what to see and do while in the country.

With a steep decline of 58% in footfall to VisitScotland iCentres across Scotland in the past decade combined with more than 60% of visitors accessing information online and 76% of adults owning a smartphone, it is clear that the way visitors access information has changed significantly.

Our two-year strategy will see a significant increase in the number of channels providing content on places to visit and stay, with a mix of industry partners, Coo Vans and digital products sitting alongside 26 key iCentres in high impact locations.

The 26 high impact VisitScotland iCentres will operate in locations of greatest visitor demand, providing a cutting edge experience and information about attractions and accommodation to not only the immediate locale, but the wider region as a whole. There will be no dilution of service across Scotland - every part of the country will be covered.

Our iCentres remain at the heart of information delivery. Our knowledgeable and passionate staff provide a personalised service to visitors, offering authenticity in a way that the web cannot, making their visit even more memorable and helping them to experience all the local area and surrounding regions have to offer.

Many of the iCentres offer free Wi-Fi and some also offer touch-point computers to browse our website – visitscotland.com. Visitors can also get help with accommodation reservations, book tours, entrance passes to visitor attractions and buy tickets for public transport services operated by CalMac, CityLink and National Express.

In 2016, the network welcomed over 3 million visitors through the door but information and customer experience doesn’t just sit at the door of an iCentre – it comes from a wide range of people and places, from mobile apps to personal recommendations.
