Working for VisitScotland
What's it like to work for us?
First of all we will make you feel welcome and new
colleagues will go out of their way to help you settle in. You
will receive a formal induction from HR and the training you
require to get up and running.
Everyone’s job is about making sure the world knows what a
fantastic country we have in Scotland and how good a visit can be.
You may be Visitor Services Adviser in our network of iCentres
going the extra mile for your customers, a marketer devising new
campaigns, working to bring the biggest and best events to Scotland
or making sure our computers work every day – we
understand that your role is vital to our success.
One of the single most important investments we make at
VisitScotland is in our people and the career development
opportunities for the team. We pride ourselves on having a robust
framework for development which includes not just the leadership,
soft skills and specialist programmes that you would expect from an
employer of choice, but we also invest in mentoring programmes,
professional qualifications, professional memberships, shadowing
opportunities, external development opportunities, event outreach
and the provision of online resources.
At VisitScotland we also have a well-established youth
employment strategy that has recently achieved a gold standard
“Good Practice Award” from the Investors in Young People. We are
keen to develop a youth talent pipeline through investment in
modern apprenticeships, graduate scheme positions, career ready
mentoring of students, internships and work experience. We
encourage staff to mentor, be mentored, spend time on development
activities and participate in projects and programmes that provide
stretch and variety.
